The "Haka"

800px_MaoriWardance

The "Haka" is a traditional dance in New-Zealand.
Before there were two differents types of "Haka" : the enjoyment "Haka" and the war "Haka" (with or without weapons)
The war "Haka" with weapons is called "Haka Peruperu".
The "Haka Peruperu" was dance before the war to called the war god and to warn the enemy of the fate who waited them.

Now everybody know the "Haka" ("Ka Mate") cause it's the New-Zealand rugby's national dance who's dance before the matches.

The lyrics are:
Ringa pakia !
Uma tiraha !
Turi whatia !
Hope whai ake !
Waewae takahia kia kino !
Ka mate ! Ka mate ! Ka ora !
Ka mate ! Ka mate ! Ka ora !
Tenei te tangata puhuru huru
Nana nei i tiki mai, Whakawhiti te ra
A upane ! ka upane !
A upane ! ka upane !
Whiti te ra ! Hi !

The "Te Waka"

tewaka

The Maori's legend say that the ancestors came from
Hawaiki (Polynesia) by the ocean, by means of dugouts.
These dugouts are called "Te Waka". These are huge canoes, of 40m of lenght! These canoes were sculptured in the wood.

Now they are used for boats races like the "Waka Ama".

The "Ta Moko"

tatouage_maori__24_

In the Maori culture the tatoo are very present..

The tattoe's history begin with a love story between a young man, Mataroa, and an underworld princess, Niwareka.
One day Mataroa beat Niwareka, so she left him and going to her father's realm named "Uetonga".
Mataroa was sad and decided to pursue the young girl. After he had uncoming several obstacles he finally arrived in "Uetonga", he asked forgiveness to Niwareka. She accepted so her father learnt him to do the "Te Moko".
The lovers returned to the human world and carried with them the arts of the tattoes.

To me the Maori's tattoes are beautiful!
And you what do you think about this tattoes?
